How to make the most of the tourist card

  • Visit expensive attractions such as the Castelo de São Jorge, Torre de Belém or Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.
  • Use public transport regularly to explore the city! Ride the famous historic streetcar 28E and experience the ride on the otherwise rather expensive funiculars.
  • Visit sights and museums that don't take up much time. The more time you have available, the more attractions you can visit.
  • Some of the Lisboa Card attractions are located outside Lisbon. We recommend limiting yourself to sights that can be reached quickly.
  • Take note of the closing days of some attractions and museums and plan your visit accordingly. Here you can find all closing days.

Lisboa Card + Pena Palace (Sintra)

If you want to visit a fairytale place in Portugal, then the Pena Palace in Sintra is just the place for you! This unique palace is a masterpiece of architecture. The bright yellow and red facades and the spectacular mix of neo-Gothic, neo-Manueline, neo-Moorish and Islamic architectural styles will enchant you.

Although the Lisboa Card gives a discount of 10% on entry to the Pena Palace, we do not recommend going to Sintra with the Lisboa Card as the journey time is too long and the saving too small. Instead, you can buy this combined ticket and visit Sintra after the Lisboa Card has expired.

Lisboa Card + Oceanário

The Oceanário de Lisboa is a highlight for every visitor! Here you can immerse yourself in the underwater world and admire over 12,000 sea creatures from all over the world's oceans. The largest indoor aquarium in Europe is home to a gigantic main aquarium with 5,000 cubic meters of salt water.

Particularly impressive are the four themed corners depicting different marine regions - from the Antarctic with penguins to a mangrove forest and a colorful coral reef.

The Lisboa Card grants a discount of 15% on a visit to the Oceanário. However, it is easier to book the Oceanário separately and only visit after the Lisboa Card has expired. One option is this attractive combined ticket.

Is the Lisboa Card worth it?

The Lisboa Card is particularly worthwhile for travelers who want to see as many sights as possible in 24, 48 or 72 hours. If you visit two or three of the major attractions - such as the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, the Castelo de São Jorge and the Torre de Belém - and use public transport regularly, you will quickly break even.

The card is less suitable for travelers who mainly stroll through the city, visit only one or two attractions or spend many days in Sintra or Cascais - where the card time cannot be used optimally.

For two or more attractions, the Lisboa Card for 24 hours can be worthwhile if you also want to use public transport. You should also visit the most expensive attractions. However, the card is generally more worthwhile if you visit two to four attractions and museums per day.
