What to know before you buy

Cancellation Can I cancel for free if my plans change?
Yes. Through our partner Tiqets, the Lisboa Card can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before your chosen collection date, with no reason needed and a full refund.
That means you can book now and secure your voucher, even if your travel plans are not 100% settled yet.
Collection Where and how do I collect the Lisboa Card in Lisbon?
After buying, you receive a voucher by email straight away. You exchange it in Lisbon for the physical card, most easily at one of these two points:
- Lisbon Airport: Ask Me Lisboa, daily 7am–10pm.
- City centre: Terreiro do Paço, daily 10am–7pm.
You can find more official Ask Me points in the overview, including one in Sintra. After your chosen collection date you have 28 days to collect.

Activation When does validity start (24, 48 or 72 hours)?
The card is not valid from the moment you buy it, only from its first use.
That is the moment you use it for the first time. According to the official brochure, you validate it on a reader on public transport, for example on the metro or a bus. You can activate the card up to a year after purchase.
Before first use, you write the date, time and your name on the card. From that moment the validity you chose (24, 48 or 72 hours) runs continuously, regardless of the calendar day.
Children Are there reduced prices for children?
Yes. There are two age bands:
- Ages 4 to 15: separate child card at a reduced price. See the table for current prices.
- Under 4: no separate card needed, as children are free at most attractions and on public transport anyway.

The card is particularly worthwhile for families, because besides entry fees it also covers public transport for every cardholder. One exception: at some attractions, such as the Castelo de São Jorge, the Padrão dos Descobrimentos and the Museu do Fado, free entry does not apply to 13 to 15-year-olds.
Suitability Is the Lisboa Card worth it for my stay?
Rule of thumb: with 2–3 major attractions a day plus regular use of public transport, you usually break even on the first day.
In practice, if Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Castelo de São Jorge or Panteão Nacional are on your plan, you benefit straight away.
The card is less suitable if you only stroll around the city, visit just 1–2 attractions or spend most of your time in Sintra or Cascais (there are hardly any free attractions there, only the free train).
